Theatre

Direction

I have always been fascinated by cinematography and creating narratives. In Junior year, I got to cast, direct, and light my own show about climate change, a topic I was eager to raise awareness for. Diving into the creative process was a delight, and I loved learning from and working with our theater program’s talented actors and faculty.

The Donation magnifies climate change to a deeply personal level, portraying how depression and climate anxiety can pervert one’s idealism. I loved its ultimately hopeful message about using our lives as tools for good.

Sound Design

I was the first student Sound Designer in Groton’s history, getting to combine my interests in theater and music. For Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, I did extensive research on 1950s sounds. Compiling period-appropriate sound effects and music for the plot and intermission was a super fun scavenger hunt across the internet. During the actual production plays, I operated cues in the sound booth in real time, learning to use the auditorium’s extensive speaker and microphone system.

Stagecraft

Alongside sound, I helped construct and design the set and stage layout for The Mousetrap. I learned carpentry and design, as well as painting large set pieces. Stagecraft gave me a new appreciation of all the work that goes behind every theatrical performance!

Acting

I have also enjoyed my fair share of time in the spotlight, having acted in these plays:

  • The Tempest (Caliban)
  • The Somewhat True Tale of Hansel and Gretel (Baby Bear)
  • James and the Giant Peach (the Centipede)
  • Charlie Brown (Linus)
  • A Child’s Dream (Dancer)

Dance

Choreographer and Lead Dancer

I have been dancing and performing ever since I was 6. Bollywood is in my blood, and I love the exhilaration of being in front of a crowd. I have choreographed and led my friends in multiple annual performances celebrating important Indian holidays, Westford town festivals, and fundraisers, with crowds numbering in the hundreds. Formal lessons have helped hone my technique, but the dance floor is where I love to go wild!
